Impound No. 048685 Female 6 years Available: Wed, May 10 Date Photo Taken: Wed, May 10 "Zaidi" Rescued! Thank you New Leash on Life! Zaidi and her friend, a sweet male golden retreiver, were left behind when their owner died. Apparently the friends or relatives didn't care enough to stop them from being dumped at a high kill shelter. It is heartbreaking. Zaidi is having such a hard time at the shelter, separated from her Golden friend, the only family she has left. Zaidi is a complete and total love. She did so much better outside of the scary shelter environment. I wish the pic was better so you could see her loving, soulful eyes. She was mingling with everyone and was great with the other dogs but found her true affection when this young girl spent time with her. She was fantastic with the girl. This dog clearly loves children. She is very bonded to her Golden friend, impound 048647. It would be a wonderful miracle if they both made it out of the shelter and even more of a miracle if they got to stay together. He is truly special. J.J. is "just another brown dog" until you meet him. He has a special personality and gentle sweetness that really gets to you. He has a beautiful, soft coat and striking brown eyes. A volunteer had him out of his cage and was walking him around the shelter. You should have seen the happy smile on his face. He was the shelter Goodwill Ambassador, greeting everyone, dogs, people-- he absolutely LOVES everyone. He was a mobile adoption "leftover"; please don't let that be the last time he ever gets to smell the grass and see the sky. He would make the most loving, loyal companion. No, he's not small, he's not white, he's not a puppy....but he has so much life left to live and love to give. Please consider him, he's a total love-bug and really would add so much love to your life. He will be euthanized soon--there are just too many dogs and the middle aged, large dogs get overlooked. Lab/pit bull mix Impound No. a776277 Male 2 year Available: Tue, May 9 Date Photo Taken: Tue, May 9 "Benny" Benny is the NICEST dog! Benny was one of the many dogs that went to an adoption event and one of the many who did not get adopted. It was just a lousy adoption day and after a day of freedom, most of the dogs for adoption were, sadly, returned to the shelter. Benny is quite the handsome boy. He was really great at the event and he greeted everyone with a smile and enthusiastic tail waggig. This is a fun dog! Loving, social, affectionate and playful. He was so good with all the kids who pet him and when not getting petted, he wanted to play with the other dogs. He is much cuter then than photo shows. Gorgeous dog and was very mellow and sweet around everyone. She is MUCH more beautiful than the pic. Yet another dog who attended the New Leash on Life fundraiser, Nuts4Mutts, and then was sent back to the shelter unadopted. NOT her fault-it was a slow day for adoptions.

Obviously this poor poor baby has been tortured and has been suffering for a long time. When you put your hand up to the cage the dog lunges at you in fear- this dog would need rehabilhitation to learn that not all humans are evil- Can anyone rescue this baby? PLEASE go to the shelter and ask to meet him. he is too young, too friendly and too wonderful to die! Rescued! She is unbelievably endearing. I was visiting with a dog at South LA, talking sweet talk and noticed the above staffie in the next kennel staring at me hopefully. She was pressed up against the front corner of her kennel, furiously wagging her tail and shifting her weight from foot to foot in happy anticipation of me coming to visit her. She gave me such a look as if to say "what about me?". She was SO calm and well behaved when I went to pet her. She pressed her body against the front of the kennel, trying to get closer to me and stared lovingly into my eyes. It broke my heart to hear her let out a tiny yelp when I walked away. How I dearly want to help this dog but realize that the odds of a sweet Staffie getting out during the holidays are very poor. Is there anybody who can help this very loving, very special girl? corgi mix Impound No. 766477 Male 3 years Available: Thu, Dec 15 Date Photo Taken: Tue, Jan 24 so scared, poor little guy this one broke my heart. he looked me straight in the eye and gave me a look that begged me to help him. he was trembling and looked so very frightend. he has good reason to be afraid. if he is not adopted his young life will end and his last experience will be trembling in fear. he is so, so very sweet and innocent. can anybody help him? he is yet another dog whose people moved and dumped their loyal dog at the shelter for their own selfish convenience. seems to happen alot around xmas. sadly, this dog REALLY not showing well. he has become growly. i have rescued dogs like this and they end up being perfectly wonderful, loving, happy dogs once they are out of the sheler and safe. he needs a special understanding foster or forever home to save his cute little life. Recued! He has turned out to be such a sweet but sad little guy. He came out of the shelter very sick and is at the emergency room today, january 8. jindo Impound No. a769473 Male 3 years Available: Tue, Jan 10 Date Photo Taken: Tue, Jan 10 More Photos Available he is the NICEST dog! this boy is so incredibly friendly. he sits at the front waiting for people to pass by. his eyes light up when a person approaches and his tail starts to wag at full speed. if they pass without noticing him, he stands up on his hind legs watching with the saddest look on his face as they walk away. then he sits down quietly and waits hopefully for the next person. i pet him and he is just the most delightful, responsive, happy and LOVING dog. plus he has a funny round head that somehow makes him look like a stuffed animal. he is completely adorable. somehow i don't think he will be getting out--there are so many great dogs here and very few are chosen to go home.
