this poor girl was adopted recently and then dumped back at the shelter because the person was allergic. how sad for a kitty to have a week of freedom and hope for a new life, only to end up back at the shelter with her life in danger. this is an exceptionally dear cat. very, very friendly and eager for love and attention. she would be such a great little friend if only somebody will give her a chance. she has been here for a while because even wonderful, affectionate, sweet adults cannot compete with the baby kittens.

I love this dog! He was laying in the back when I walked up to his cage. I noticed him right away (he's very pretty!). Once we made eye contact his tail began thumping the ground. Slowly but surely, he came up to the front (after stretching a bit). By the time he got to me he was doing a full body wiggle! He licked my hand and sat in front of me to allow me to pet him. He's a total lovebug!

He is listed as a staff mix, but looks more boxer/lab. He is tall and lean and SO CUTE! Please save this guy's life! He will be a wonderful and devoted companion! Hurry! He's already short on time.

he is behind a closed door and no one coming to adopt will see him. he is quite striking looking, as you can see from his picture. he seemed sad and low energy when i visited with him. i am not sure what he is being treated for, most likely upper respiratory (a kitty cold) which is completely treatable with antibiotics. he is just a baby, i hope he makes it out.

this little cutie came in quite scared. now that she has adjusted to the shelter environment she has turned out to be "miss personality". she leaps about her cage and tries to turn anything into a toy. she is affectionate and likes to be pet. love the cute little smudge on her nose. she will be an amusing and loving little companion, if given the chance.

this pretty little girl is in BIG trouble. she is so dear and sweet but she is limping. please help! this cat is so much prettier than this picture. she has gorgeous gray, apricot and tan coloring with the most beautiful, clear blue eyes. she is a tad shy at first but looks at you with such love and hope. when you pick her up, she nuzzles into you and rubs her face against yours. she only wants to be loved and give love back. she is a very dear little being. with her good looks, she would normally be adopted. however, she has a limp and most people do not want to adopt a cat that will have immediate vet expenses. if you are looking for a GREAT cat, this is your girl. she is worth whatever vetting might be needed.

if she does not get adopted, i would like to rescue her to save her life. a foster home is needed as well as donations for her vet bill. this cat has completely captured my heart. what an angel kitty! he is gentle, mellow, kind and loving. he wants so badly to connect and will rub and purr, put his paw up to touch you, all the while staring lovingly into your eyes. WHO could have left such a cat at the shelter??? if your life is lacking in love and comfort, adopt pongo and he will give you more love and comfort than you have ever known. this boy is special. really. please come meet him. he simply CANNOT die at the shelter.

This pup is SO cute, there is no doubt that more than one person will want him. If you are interested in adopting this boy, please be at the shelter at 8 a.m. on the first day available. When more than one person comes to adopt a dog, the city holds an auction. Bring lots of cash or a check with matching identification. The Department of Animal Services does not accept major credit cards or debit cards. They do not accept bills larger than a $20.

Everyone wants a yellow Lab puppy. I imagine he will fetch a pretty price. I hope he goes to a home that is worthy of him--one that will give him lots of love and take him to obedience class to teach him how to be a good dog. One that understands that a puppy/dog wants to be part of the family and not an "outside dog".

The thing that makes me so sad about auctions is how so many people are willing to pay a lot of money for one particular dog and then they leave the shelter, not even considering adopting one of the awesome, loving dogs who are not luck enough to be a lab puppy. If you come to get this pup and are not the high bidder, please look through the kennels and try to find just ONE dog who you would like to welcome into your home. You will be getting a great dog AND truly saving a life.

This is a gorgeous Shepherd. Classic markings and beautiful conformation. You'd never know it by the LAAS website picture. I believe this girl is a stray dog and will most likely become available for adoption 4/23, if not redeemed by her owner. Check with the staff to be sure.

Shadow was adopted and returned to the pound all in one day! His owner claimed he is "sick." Another family who does not intend to spend any money vetting their dog. Evidently, Shadow was adopted with a medical waiver, so he was not sent to the spay/neuter clinic. What was his new family thinking? They knew they were taking home a dog with a cold. Seems like it was too big an inconvenience to have a dog who has a slight medical condition. He was very energetic today, when I visited with him.

Please ask to see this very loving boy outside his kennel. He is still a puppy and will be an active companion for some lucky person.

this beautiful cat was adopted and returned because she was sick with upper respiratory. she was probably healthy when she entered the shelter and caught upper respiratory there. she is SUCH a loving cat. she rubs, purrs and practically falls over when you pet her. she seems to be in good general health and probably just needs some good food and TLC. i really like this beauty so very much, i sure hope she makes it out.
