If you are interested in adopting a shelter animal, do not wait!! The animal you see may not be there tomorrow. Call the shelter and give them the impound number of the animal you are interested in. Ask them to note your name, phone number and date you will come to adopt. BE SURE TO GET THE NAME OF THE PERSON YOU SPEAK WITH! Then get in your car and go save a precious life!

This handsome boy was brought in as a stray. He is already under medication for an ear infection. He's not looking his best right now. Whatever meds he is on are causing his ears to be wet. Not to worry. He'll be over this in a heartbeat. He has the potential of being a very good looking boy. Just needs some sprucing up. Although he must be uncomfortable with his infected ear, he was nothing but gentle with me and his kennel mate.

This sweet boy has not been picked up. I can't understand this. He is such a lovely dog, with such a sweet disposition. And he is still a youngster. What more could anyone want?

Some dogs weather impoundment better than others. For whatever reason, they remain happy and optomistic. Others are more sensitive to their change. They immediately show fear and distrust. That doesn't mean they won't come around; it just indicates their deep insecurity. Teddy is that type of dog. His people moved on without him and he has obviously not been well handled. He is terrified. If he is lucky enough to get out alive, he will need an experienced person to help him over the hurdle. He has been betrayed by his person and he will need to trust again. Please give Teddy a second chance.

UPDATE 3/17: Big breakthrough. Teddy licked my hand today. He's definitely gaining confidence. He seems to take comfort from his kennel mate, Ralph. Now that he is showing signs of improvement, it would be even more tragic if Teddy were not to go home with someone.

This young boy has been at the pound for nearly two weeks. He has a Possible Owner. I have been watching him since he was impounded. He came in with all that puppy enthusiasm and curiosity. Only wanted to engage his kennel mates in play. So far, most of his cage mates have not made it out alive. And now two days before his review date, he has a Medical Card. A reason for him to be put down, as soon as he is available.

Please save this puppy's life on Wednesday, when he is available for adoption. If not picked up that day, he will most likely be destroyed. If lucky enough to be adopted or rescued, the adoption fee covers a free vet visit. Plus, ShelterCare is offering 2 free months of pet insurance, compliments of Petfinder. It should pick up much of his veterinary expenses. And since he is a puppy, he should recover in no time!!!

This big boy's kennel card was pulled on Sunday, 3/14. Although he played with his Rottie kennel mate (see photos for Impound A628068), he has most likely been "scheduled." Please save his life, if not already too late.

I love this dog! This boy is a big hunk of puppy love! He has terrier hair and rottie/shepherd coloring. He is such a gentle and friendly boy, he really made a huge impression on me and I can't stop worrying about him now. Don't let his big dog looks intimidate you. He is so well mannered and good natured. He politely let me visit with his kennelmates before I could get to him, never showing any jealousy or aggression. Really, he is such an exceptional boy. He gave me so many sweet kisses. He is such a gentle and affectionate boy! He will make a wonderful companion. He has been here too long and is way out of time. I cannot imagine this big, sweet, LOVING boy not making it out of the shelter. It would just be too sad. Please come meet him for yourself, you won't want to leave without him. Hurry, he may not be here for even another day.

EUTHANIZED. Seems a bit like killing bambi.

He was in isolation with a skin condition. Could be no one ever saw him.

this poor pup was dumped with his brother. both dogs are extremely cute but, unfortunately, seem not to have had a lot of human contact. the "person" who dumped them let his german shepherd and his golden retriever breed and then obviously paid no attention to the puppies. both dogs seem to want attention, but they are too afraid. i am quite sure that these boys would become loving pets if given the chance. they are so young and so dear, please give them the loving home they so deserve. this pup in particular is in real trouble. he seems to have a skin condition so he was stuck in isolation. please ask to see him. (btw-BOTH dogs have never been on a leash before so were very, very afraid when the shelter worker put a rope around their necks. if you see them react if roped, please understand they are NOT aggressive dogs. just neglected, scared young pups who will blossom if given tlc and a bit of time.

this dog arrived at the shelter with his brother, they both lost their life here.

these two pups were dumped at the shelter by a man who let his german shepherd and golden retriever breed. it appears that he left them in the yard and never gave them so much as a pat on the head. they seem to be quite timid and shy around people. i went to pet this boy, although obviously scared, he looked at me with such hope, wanting to make a connection. he is NOT nippy at all. he is just a scared little dog who is young enough to respond to love and tlc. i have rescued dogs like this before and it doesn't take long to turn them into normal, loving, friendly, playful pups. please don't let these beautiful boys die without ever having known kindness and love. they are both completely adorable.

This beautiful, young Staffie was recently impounded. I believe he is a stray dog. This is one of those extra special boys. He so much wanted to be scratched, that he pressed himself up against the cage so that I could reach him. And he is incredibly handsome! Hopefully he will be reunited with his person.

MICKEY HAD A COLD.

This big boy really got to me! He is in a kennel with a very alpha dog. I watched as this dog repeatedly bullied Mickey into submitting. Eventually Mickey just stayed in the corner, with his head down. This is such a good dog. At 1 year old, he is still pretty much a puppy. His owner dumped him at the pound because he is "too big." What a ridiculous explanation. Please ask to see Mickey out of his kennel. He is so intimidated by the other dog, he is not showing well. But he looked up at me with the sweetest expression, as if it say "help me.

UPDATE 3/12: Mickey is definitely getting sick. He appears to have a cold. Not life threatening in the real world. VERY life threatening in a city pound. It's a reason for him to lose his life. PLEASE save Mickey! He is such a good boy.

EUTHANIZED, 3/14. Rest in peace, dear Mickey.

"Bear"

This dog is so sad. He just doesn't understand why his people moved and dumped him at the scary shelter. He had been a devoted and loving companion his whole life and then they betray him.

What is it about people? When they move, they don't consider taking their companion animals with them? Why get a dog or cat if it means that little to you?

Bear is a very nice looking dog; He has a cautionary notation on his kennel card. Some dogs are very scared when the first arrive and end up with a caution note. Please come to the shelter to visit with Bear and spend a bit of time getting to know him. He seems sweet but scared.

DUMPED AT THE POUND 3/6. EUTHANISED 3/11

Yaqui was dumped at the pound by her owner. I have not had an opportunity to spend time with her. She seems like a highly energetic girl and would be a great companion for a young person. She is a lot of dog!

UPDATE: But I overheard an ACT tell a member of the public, who was turning in a Staff, we have "Staff rescue." Why wasn't she rescued?

Rest In Peace

AS you can see from his picture, Chester is a very pretty boy. He is also incredibly sweet and friendly. Please go to the shelter and visit with him to see just how nice he really is. He is so full of LOVE, and gives many kisses! His life is very much in danger, please save him!

Chester has requested that he be the only dog in your life. He would like all the attention for himself! (ok, so he doesn't play well with others, but he is perfect for a one dog family!)

UPDATE 3/6: I visited with Chester today. He was so happy to see me. He wagged his tail, as soon as he spotted me. Please save his life, he will reward you with so much love and devotion.

EUTHANIZED, 3/14. We're so sorry Chester, we really wanted to save you.
